Financial Disclosures

Purpose and limits

GoalAdvisor is the brand name of this general educational calculator website; it is not represented as an incorporated entity. The current tools are available without charge to support financial literacy. They use inputs you choose to illustrate mathematical scenarios and do not produce a personalized financial plan. They do not evaluate your complete circumstances, recommend securities or strategies, determine suitability, execute transactions, or create an advisory, fiduciary, attorney-client, or other professional relationship. Nothing on this website offers or solicits a transaction in a security or financial product.

Hypothetical results and investment risk

Outputs are hypothetical, not actual investment performance, forecasts, guarantees, or promises. Defaults and higher/lower return comparisons are examples, not expected returns or recommendations. Markets fluctuate and investments may lose principal. Past performance does not guarantee future results. The lower and higher return comparisons are selected illustrations, not probability ranges, best- or worst-case outcomes, or limits on potential losses. Actual results may fall outside those comparisons. Constant-return models omit volatility, sequence-of-returns risk, liquidity constraints, changing interest rates, and other real-world effects.

Using the illustrations

Results depend on your inputs and the model in use. Changes in returns, inflation, fees, timing, or withdrawals can materially change an illustration. Compare several plausible assumptions and review them as your circumstances change. Identical inputs and an unchanged model produce the same deterministic result; other tools may differ because their assumptions or methods differ. These tools are one educational resource and should not be your sole basis for a financial decision. No guarantee is made that an illustration fits your circumstances.

Calculator assumptions

Review each tool’s method and assumptions. Growth and fee tools use effective annual growth assumptions converted to periodic rates, with contributions at period-end. Fees are approximated as a reduction in annual returns, rather than modeling every charge. Inflation uses a user-supplied constant assumption, not live CPI. Retirement is a simplified accumulation and withdrawal-rate illustration; it does not simulate retirement longevity or estimate a probability of success.

Retirement spending, other income, and contributions are entered in today’s dollars; contributions maintain their purchasing power over time. Social Security, pension income, and withdrawal rates are your assumptions. The tool does not apply contribution limits, benefit eligibility, benefit claiming rules, RMDs, or taxes. Retirement income and withdrawal illustrations are before taxes; the calculator does not determine after-tax spending money. Include taxes in your total spending requirement and enter other income before taxes on the same basis. Illustrated withdrawals can consume principal and are not investment yield or guaranteed income. Meeting the target does not establish that you can retire or that savings will last: the accumulation model ends at retirement and does not model portfolio drawdown, lifespan, healthcare shocks, or the order of future returns. A portfolio target based on a withdrawal rate is not a guaranteed sustainable spending plan.

Debt calculations assume fixed APR, monthly interest and payments, no fees or new borrowing. Dividend calculations assume annual price growth and dividends based on opening-year capital; dividends may change or stop. Allocation compares your selected targets and does not recommend trades. Matching those targets does not establish suitability or diversification. Allocation, diversification, and rebalancing do not assure profits or prevent losses. Net worth relies on your estimates and does not verify ownership or market values.

Taxes, costs, and accuracy

Unless expressly modeled, results exclude taxes, transaction costs, account restrictions, and other expenses. Display values may be rounded; required monthly savings are rounded up to the next cent. Browser, software, input, and model errors can occur. Independently verify important results before relying on them. Consult appropriately qualified financial, tax, or legal professionals for your circumstances.
